This is an opportunity for a wide group of UK, early career artists to develop intensive and specialised skills via our paid rural residential retreat: Summer Summit. Hosted in collaboration with The HopBarn, this is a meeting of minds in the middle of the Midlands. Summer Summit is a weekend festival where you can slay new skills and build your queer family – it’s camp (there will be camping…)
Applications for Summer Summit will open in April 2021.
Who’s it for?:
* LQBTQIA+ identifying folx over 18yrs old in the first five years of their professional career as an artist.
* Folx with additional access needs – we encourage you to apply. We have provision to respond to access needs on an individual basis.
* We can help support child care costs if this is a barrier as well.
* We actively encourage applications from QTIPOC artists
* We have provision to respond to access needs on an individual basis.
The HopBarn Centre for Music and Creative Performance is really excited to support Milk Presents with Summit Summit in September 2020. As a venue, The HopBarn can provide a rural retreat to visiting artists and companies, offering an ideal space with on-site accommodation for intense periods of creativity, spawning new ideas and new thinking towards artistic practice. This given opportunity, in supporting Milk Presents with the running of this programme, fulfills the key priorities and ambitions that The HopBarn has in contributing to developing new theatre, music and dance. We are equally excited by the prospect of the intensive workshop weekend being delivered to diverse artists from the LGBTQIA+ community.
