We know it’s a scary time for Independent Creatives but we’ve been heartened by the way our community seems to be pulling together to support each other and share resources.
Together with fellow producers, Hattie Gregory and Louise Blackwell, our Producer Ruby Glaskin has been helping to develop support networks and gather information on what support is currently available for those of us working independently in the arts.
We also saw this interesting proposal from Keep it complex – make it clear. Not everyone is eligible or able to apply to Arts Council England or other Emergency Funds and even those that are aren’t guaranteed the support. The suggestion is that eligible individuals / organisations form Solidarity Syndicates with non-eligible individuals / organisations to share any funds they’re awarded, making sure no one in our industry is left behind. We recommend you seek advice from Arts Council or fundraising professionals before doing this.
Louise Blackwell has also developed a support network for artists and other creative practitioners consisting of over 40 different independent creatives who are willing to give some time for a supportive chat to fellow independent creatives. If you’d like to ask someone from this group for help then email Louise.
